Design of workshop materials and sessions
My work on the Modular project began with creating materials for the workshop's participants to get to know each other, "break the ice" before the participatory design sessions, and encourage conversations about architectural design, sustainability, and technology.
The Workshop
The Modular workshop kicked off with a series of lectures by leaders in the architectural design industry, academics, and technologists. The group then broke off into separate breakout sessions where the participants and session leaders began the storyboarding exercises.
Research findings and discovery
After the workshop, I collaborated with the design team to read, consolidate, and interpret the findings of the design sessions. Through an affinity diagramming exercise with the design team, we identified trends and themes from the multitude of storyboards we collected. We then documented individual narratives in findings documents.
A graphic novel about the near-future
After working with the team to parse the findings of the sessions, we began work on a series of detailed storyboards that incorporated the themes of the sessions into narratives about users of new architectural technologies. These narratives took the final form of a graphic novel that told a larger story about the near-future of architectural design.
